My six year old daughter will occasionally request mush for supper. Such a super easy and frugal meal to make.
I made one batch this last time for the five of us that are eating and we ate it all. We could have used a double batch. My cast iron skillet is great for cooking the mush in order to get a good crunchy outside.
I love that I am making something that is handed down through the generations. My great grandma would make this meal to eat.
- 1 cup corn meal
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup cold water
- Mix top 3 together.
- Pour into 3 cups of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes.
- Pour into loaf pan. Chill.
- Slice thinly (around 3/8") Roll in flour, and fry until crisp
